Apples of Gold - Beauty Love

BEAUTY LOVE

To set the stage for the beautiful woman I'd like to let you in on a bit of personal information about me. I am a woman who wholeheartedly appreciates and loves beauty. I call it Beauty Love. Beauty everywhere and in all places. As I look around me I see beauty everywhere. Here are some of the forms of beauty I see.

ARTISTIC BEAUTY

Artists who paint on canvas captivate me. When I have an opportunity to watch an artist at work, I become mesmerized. I cannot imagine what goes on in their heads as a story unfolds with imaginative beauty. The creators eye sees a world that most people miss. He conjures up images in his mind's eye and cannot rest until he is engrossed in the art of creating something out of nothing.

BEAUTY OF NATURE

There is nothing so beautiful as a close look at nature. Watching the sunset over the big lake, with various hues of orange, red, purple and pink is breath taking. I take it all in and fill my memory and my soul with the beauty. How blessed it is to witness true beauty created by the magnificent master designer as he puts his world to sleep.

BEAUTIFUL WORDS

Nothing gets to my soul like well chosen words .... words crafted by the finest of minds. The book of Proverbs is filled with beautiful words that make one wise. A key component to a beautiful heart is the development of wisdom. I totally recommend reading one chapter of the book of Proverbs a day. You will be amazed at the beautiful gems of wisdom you will uncover through the book of Proverbs. Proverbs 25:11 says "a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver" Isn't that Beautiful? As you take in and meditate on the book of Proverbs the beauty within you will grow. A writer holds so much power in his pen. He can take you places you've never been and stir up emotions you didn't know existed.

THE BEAUTY OF FLOWERS

Anyone who knows me well ... knows of my love of flowers. A gift of flowers touches my heart in a way I cannot fully put into words. I feel pure joy at the sight and smell of flowers. I adore their delicacy, colors and luxurious scents. One whiff of a lilac bush and I’m off to a place where pleasure and beauty reigns. My daughter surprised me by purchasing a Magnolia tree last summer - I cried and cried with JOY at her thoughtfulness and that she blessed me with a gift she KNEW I would love.

MY LOVE OF BEAUTY

Yes, I really appreciate true beauty ... so I guess it only makes sense that beauty would become a priority as I grew up. Throughout my teen years my love for the beauty that you can see with the eye became my priority.

BEAUTIFUL - UNIQUE FEATURES

Most woman seek to accentuate their strong points and bring out the beauty of their unique features. Beauty is a common theme among women today. It is sought after and glorified by commercials and the clothing, makeup, jewelry and diet industries. Hollywood usually sets the trends when it comes to beautiful women.

As I was growing up ... I too sought to be beautiful. I still remember how I looked and felt as a junior higher. I had twiggy straight blond hair, freckles all over my face, big front teeth, chipmunk cheeks and a derriere that was too big in comparison to the rest of me. I was self-conscious thinking I was ugly and hopelessly misshapen ... ahhhh .. there was little hope of my becoming one of the beautiful women of the world.

As I entered high school my body shape started to change. I learned how to manage my hair and apply makeup over those big freckles. My teeth were fitting nicely in my mouth and my booty was lining up proportionately with my body. I was pretty satisfied with the changes. I remember how important it was to tease my hair until it was perfect, apply makeup to create a flawless look, sweep the mascara until my lashes were rich and full. The outfits I chose were name brands and accentuated the curves. Yes, I think I was pleased with my appearance which I diligently worked at to complement my own unique features.

I recognized the advantages of being considered beautiful. To give you an example of those advantages, I found it easy to get what I wanted. I was pursued by the popular kids at school and asked out on dates by the most handsome guys. When I went for an interview for a job there was no doubt in my mind that my looks and personality played a big part in my being hired. I knew inside that it gave me an 'unfair' advantage. There were many people more capable than I, in fact, I was always amazed that they had hired me. As a new employee with no experience in Human Resources, I remember going through the resumes of applicant's that came in for my position. Most had far greater skills than I did. I didn't even know how to use a computer when they hired me. The company sent me to classes and today I m very grateful for the free education I received through them..

Although I liked the perks of being attractive there was an inner warning alerting me that there were also dangers in putting too much stock in good looks. I was keenly aware at how shallow the world of appearances was.

TRUE BEAUTY

I recall, as a young woman, reading these words from Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised”. And I Samuel 16:7 “Man looks at the outside appearance, but God looks at the heart.” Beauty is fleeting.. I pondered that thought, and realized I had just read a definition of true beauty. “I will get old someday and my face will wear wrinkles instead of the porcelain beauty I see today. My eyes will grow dim and my arms flabby. What then? What will I be then if I have invested all of my energy in being an outwardly beautiful woman?

God began a process with me in my younger days urging me to invest in other forms of beauty. As I studied the great women I most admired I realized it had nothing to do with outer beauty. It was their heart that I was drawn to. It was their heart that gave them such joy and contentment. It was a deeper kind of beauty ... a true beauty. I began to see the outer beauty as being superficial and a mask for what lie within.

A woman filled with love is so beautiful. If you watch her closely you will find children, young people, the aged, even animals being drawn into her love. One day I discovered the most beautiful description of love that I had ever read. This snapshot description is found in I Cor. 13:4-7. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Isn't that an awesome description? I knew that this is the kind of true beauty that would satisfy in a long term relationship, give me inner peace, bless those I love and please God. This became my new measure of true beauty. I prayed God would develop a pure heart within me. I prayed I would learn to love people with all of the character qualities I read about in this Passage. I asked God to grant me those attributes and develop them in my heart. I knew that therein was the key to possessing beauty that would never fade.

Do I still strive to be beautiful outwardly? Yes I do – but it is no longer a drive or a motivating factor of my everyday life. I believe a woman who takes care of herself and dresses nicely shows respect and appreciation for the body given her.

As I approach the later years of my life my heart is set on keeping inner beauty as a priority. I hope to grow old with wrinkles of laughter lining my face. Though my eyes will surely grow dull ... I pray they will always hold the beauty of kindness, acceptance and love.

BEAUTIFUL WOMAN

Thank YOU Friend

Ann Nonymous asked me if I had ever heard the song "More Beautiful You" by Johnny Diaz. I had never heard it but upon her recommendation went in search for a listen. What I found blessed the socks off of me. Thank You Ann .. I feel you've gifted me with the 'perfect' song to summarize the message of The Beautiful Woman.

This from Ann: I think what amazes me and helps reinstate this song even more is that it is written and sung by a man. To hear this point of view from a man should help women even more, I should hope and pray! Ann

Thank you Friend

MORE BEAUTIFUL YOU by Jonny Diaz

MORE BEAUTIFUL YOU - Lyrics by Jonny Diaz

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn't straight her body isn't fake
And she's always felt overweight

Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty-one the things that you've already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you've got a man but he's got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there's a man whose love is true
And he'll treat you like the jewel you are

So turn around you're not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It's not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl

I think beauty is a relative term. The definition of beautiful woman in Africa is different with the criteria in Europe or Asia for that matter.

I enjoyed reading your experience and point of view.

Hey mwatkins, welcome to my hubs. So, I took you on a little trip down memory lane .. lol Eventually for most of us everything evens out. Thank you for your kind words. You also gave me a Sunday Blessing~ :0) Mekenzie

Your description of the teenage years completely swept me back to 7th grade where I was as tall as I am now, with long blonde hair, nothing but legs and breasts, so they called me chicken legs. It took another 6 years for my teeth and body to catch up to the rest of me, which made college so much more fun than high school! ;-) Thanks for the reminder that the beauty truly comes from within (There could never be a more beautiful you). . .You are a Sunday blessing for me! ;-)

Ictodd, from one older lady to another .. I'd like to tell you about a product I use .. The suggestion came from a holistic lady physician I follow. It's called BioMarine by Oceanna (Topical Deep Water Squalane). It lasts forever and is not too expensive. Here is the website: www.oceanaproducts.com It's been great for my skin and I LOVE it .. It's not a cream - it's more of an oil that your skin absorbs.. It has really helped my skin.

Thanks for the kind words again .. I'm going to take a little trip over to your hubs now.

Blessings

Another wonderful story. thank you so much for sharing. I do the same but found out that using so much moisture cream on my face has caused placed under my skin which the Dermatologist says he can do nothing about. They do not show to much but I notice it of course...so you never know what is best to do. My skin was dry so I kept moisture on my face. I am older and it doesn't bother me as much and there are more important issues in life.

Pamela, so nice of you to stop by for a read. Those who understand and develop the inside beauty are blessed indeed. I look forward to getting to know you!

Excellent hub on love. I agree wholeheartedly with your hub. Thanks for sharing on this important issue as so often we put emphasis on physical beauty, but the inside beauty is what counts.

LOL you are so funny Winsome. Yes, aren't we all ... in retrospect! Our humanness often gets the best of us does it not? As I get older I find more of these charecteristics shine through but not as much as I'd like. I've heard it said and have witnessed the truth in this saying .. as we age we either get bitter or better. It is important to tend to our hearts. Thanks for stopping by Winsome .. I so appreciate your wisdom!

Patient, kind, generous, modest, humble, polite, obliging, calm, forgiving, amiable, benevolent, good, protective, trusting, persevering, and hopeful. If your writings are any indication, you are well on your way to all of these. I'm usually great at these in retrospect....after I've demonstrated the opposite. =:) Beautiful article!

dohn121 2 years ago

Growing up, I've been taught the reality of transient things and that only our good works and loving kindness will separate us from the world of materialism. This certainly struck a chord with me. It's good to hear that you yourself have found the key ingredient to a good life. Thanks for inspiring read.

Beautiful hub, in every sense of the word.

Mekenzie, this was an amazing bit of writing! You see beauty in the world about you, and your descriptions add to that beauty. Your eloquence is a tribute to what is inside your heart.

Thanks very much for sharing this with us.

Micky Dee 2 years ago

Well as you can see, maintaining my outward beauty is still a priority. My beard has to be just right. If I sleep on one side too long, it will lean to that side. The wrinkles on my forehead are arranged just so to distract the eyes of others away from my bald spots. There are many tricks I use but I shouldn't give all my beauty tips away!

Mekenzie 2 years ago

Ann, I thank you for your kind and gracious words. I have not heard Johnny Diaz's song but I will look it up out of curiosity. I appreciate your blanket of encouragement... it covers me with smiles. Blessings to YOU!

Ann Nonymous 2 years ago

EXCELLENT and two thumbs up for sharing this, Mekenzie! It is so important to understand this when the media and everyone around us bombards us with physical appearance! Have you heard of Johnny Diaz's song More Beautiful You? If not I would suggest listening to it as it really ties in with your hub...but then again you did such a good job nothing could improve it. Thanks for your honesty and for your encouragement for others and perfect choice of verses!
