THIS IS THE AWARD WE WOMEN MAGAZINE GAVE ME TO DISPLAY ON MY BLOG.

OFFICIAL LANDING PAGE FOR: WE WOMEN'S MAGAZINE (Pen Name is Mekenzie)

WE Women's Magazine recently notified me that I had received recognition as one of "100 Women to Watch in 2010". I was both excited and very honored! The award was originally posted on my Blogspot. I have made a decision to move those articles here to my Hubpages because of the versatality and the opportunity to interact ...

The Award I received from WE Women's Magazine was based on my Healthy Living Articles. Since Hubpages works differently, this HUBPAGE will be the Landing Page for those looking to read my Articles. On the Bottom of this HUB I have linked all other Health Related Articles. Just Click on the Topic you'd like to read and you will be taken to that HUB Page.

If you are interested in looking at any of the other topics I write about, just click on my picture and you will be taken to my Profile Page or CLICK HERE for the articles which the HUB editors have choosen as my Latest, Hot, Best and More.

Please leave feedback and comments as you feel led. I will always value, answer and respect your opiinions. Blessings!

Personal Responsibility

There are choices we all can make to give ourselves the gift of optimum health and well being. The key is to first acknowledge that we must take personal responsibility to take care of the body we live in. The next step is to listen to our bodies and learn to rest ... exercise ... eat healthy and research the many avenues to optimum health and wellness.

Most people just rush through life eating what they want to eat , sleeping when it's convenient and sitting around being lazy whenever they choose . Most of us never give much time or thought to the choices we make each day that will affect our future health . We take no personal responsibility for these bodies we were entrusted with ... Then one day an illness hits and health needs come to the forefront. For most that awakening occurs in the later days of our lives.

Food and Supplements

Consider your eating habits. Do you live to eat or eat to live? We live in the land of plenty ... plenty of fast foods, plenty of fatty snacks, plenty of ice cream, candy and more. Junk food is just too convenient and luring for most of us to resist. Many people say they are too busy to eat right. Living in the fast lane means grabbing a donut on your way to work, eating snacks at your desk then stopping for fast food on your way home. The pressure of the day takes precedence over any thought about the food we put in our mouths.

If you are using the excuse that you don't have time to think about eating healthy ... I suggest you think again! There are frozen foods available today that list calories, fat grams, carbohydrates and more. With brand names like Weight Watchers, Healthy Choices, Lean Cuisine and other food companies creating yummy packaged meals - it 's easy to stay on track and eat healthy. Make sure you are taking a whole food, chemical free organic vitamin and mineral supplement. If you need a recommendation from me, it would be Shaklee VITA LEA or What I personal take called: REFUEL from Vollara. Click on Refuel to learn more.

Take Responsibility

Choose an exercise plan that makes you feel good. Forget what Joe is doing at the YMCA. If you like to walk the stairs at the Dunes ... then that is what you should do.

Keep stress at bay. Stress will age you, it messes with your emotions and can take years off your life. Try to see the positives in every situation. Even if something difficult happens in your life there is always a lesson to be learned or a perspective to be sharpened through the experience. You get to decide how you think about a situation - you have control over your thoughts. Reign them in and choose to be positive even in the hardest of times.

Taking responsibility for your health will take a commitment and some planning. Once you place your health as a priority you will no longer eat without thinking, sleep whenever you feel like it or sit around and be lazy just because....

Choose this day to take care of YOU! Learn all you can to nurture and care for the body entrusted to you. Choose a Healthy Lifestyle and make wise food choices that will care for and feed your body.

We only get one body - this one body. Let's commit to seeing that we give it our best shot!

so true sandra .. we cannot function, at least physically, unless we are taking care of our body's. I only wish I had realized it earlier in my life.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Blessings!

We constantly need to be reminded of how to take care of our bodies, without which we can not longer function on this physical level. Thanks for your beautiful hub. Sandra Busby

Our body is a temple of God,

and I am sure he does not mind

an occassional remodeling that

is beneficial, but expansion

in pursuit of gluttony or reduction

to skeletal frames are not in his plan.

He has given us many organs

to perform the songs of life

within our sacred flesh,

we must keep them in tune

and in harmony with nature.

He has also given us free will

to run our temples anyway we choose,

but that gift comes with consequences,

for like any temple we require

maintenance, and a congregation of

heathly donations to our inner sanctum,

baptized with lots of water, and an

occasional bit of wine.

The Garden of Eden was a smorgasbord

of vegatables and fruits,

for Adam and eve to partake of.

We must remember to add many of

these ancient gifts to our

internal coffers to avoid

an external coffin.

Remember Jesus turned five loaves

and two fishes into enough food

to feed thousands, he didn't turn

donuts and fried burgers into

such a blessing for his followers.

Moderation should be our new religion

for our bodies, we can all have a

little bit of everything that tempts us...

it's the willpower to stop at

just a few that is most important.

And as we care for our own bodies

we must also consider the less

fortunate who go hungry,

or without health care or without

the basic needs and turn some of our

energy to helping them.

This will bless our soul,

and ease our minds,

and make God happy.

Anything less is costly to us all.

Great Hub.~~~~MFB III

Thank you for stopping by nohappiness. Sounds like you are motivated to get moving and that's the first step. I've written three hubs on mental health issues. I've not written on bi-polar yet but I have had much experience with people oppressed by this disease. There is HOPE ... Blessings!

Thanks Madison, It is hard not to be complacent, especially during the Holidays. I've found the trick is to allow yourself to endulge for one day during the Holiday and then get right back on track. Most will not even register a weight gain by practicing this principle.

Inspiring hub! Glad I read it. Staying healthy is very important in my life, but I have to admit past few days I've been getting a little complacent with eating habits and exercise, reading this helps get back on track. Thanks!

Thanks MaryElena, I speak from experience and have passed the healthy lifestyle down to my daughters and their families. My son is not yet on board and I pray it doesn't take an illness to get him onboard.
